 
Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche was always well known to Ngak’chang Rinpoche and 
Khandro Déchen’s elder disciples for his humour and 
for his unequivocal directness. Ngak’chang Rinpoche relates:
When Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche caught a person’s eyes, a few seconds would 
seem like a few minutes. Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche had an astonishing variety 
of gazes – sometimes they communicated, sometimes they interrogated, sometimes 
they challenged, sometimes they just looked from infinity with infinite 
tenderness – but whatever the gaze there was always transmission.
