This second close-up gives us a clear image of the green disk behind Padmasambhava’s head. The colour green is associated with the Karma Buddha family, the air element and the buddhakarma of destruction. The natural experiential quality of this element is the wisdom of ‘self-accomplished activity’. This is the wisdom which does not seek to manipulate phenomena in order to experience a contrived dualistic adaptation of reality. Phenomena are allowed simply to arise and dissolve, to relax naturally into the self-liberated state. The symbol announces that Padmasambhava is a natural expression of power which is unelaborate and infinite in its ability to transform all neurosis.
