This statue of Garuda is a special form of Yeshé Tsogyel manifesting as a Garuda – Tsogyel Khyung. This statue has the two phurbas missing which should be in her hands – but in most other respects it is a fine example of the yidam’s form. In this statue, unlike the Aro gTér form, Tsogyel Khyung is shown crushing a kLu demon. The body colour of the statue is gold (which is customary, whatever the actual colour of the yidam), but she is dark blue in the Aro gTér Lineage. This statue belongs to Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen, who received it as a present from Chökyi Wangchuk Rinpoche in 1991.
