In the Summer of 1996 Tharchin Rinpoche came to visit Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen in their home in South Wales. At that time their son Wangdrak Aro Jung-né (Robert E Lee) was given the additional name ‘Dorje’ by Tharchin Rinpoche, i.e. Wangdrak Dorje Aro Jung-né.
Tharchin Rinpoche is well-known for his love and fondness for children. Everywhere he goes, children are drawn to him and relate with him immediately. At the time of Tharchin Rinpoche’s visit Robert was barely a month old, but was able to attend most of Tharchin Rinpoche’s teachings (in a sling carried alternately by Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen). Whilst Tharchin Rinpoche was in South Wales, Kyabjé Künzang Dorje Rinpoche sent another name for Robert E Lee: Düd’dül Dorje – Demon-destroying Thunderbolt.
