Yang-lé-shöd

With the Himalayas in the hazy distance, Yang-lé-shöd is a peaceful place rarely visited by tourists. It is said that if Vajrayana practice were to die out everywhere else, it would still continue at Yang-lé-shöd. Yang-lé-shöd is the sacred place where Padmasambhava and Yeshé Tsogyel manifested as Dorje Phurba and Dorje Phagmo: the thunderbolt nail and the thunderbolt sow. There are many Nyingma gompas situated in this region and it is likely that more will develop over the next decades, making this a wonderful place of pilgrimage. There are few such places in the world and the students of the Confederate Sanghas of Aro are privileged to be able to spend time there. That this has been possible is due to the blessing of Kyabjé Künzang Dorje Rinpoche and Jomo Sam’phel.
