Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen’s friends Lödrö Rinpoche and Khandro Nyida Wangmo live at Tsogyel Gé’phel Jong in Yang-lé-shöd, Nepal. They are not a ngak’phang couple but neither are they monastic. They belong to a special category of Nyingma practitioners who manifest the outer form of the monastic tradition (in the case of Lödrö Rinpoche) without adhering to its celibate form. Lödrö Rinpoche is a holder of the three vows but never took more than gényen vows in terms of being a robe wearer.

Khandro Nyida Wangmo is a powerful practitioner and a
wonderfully kind woman. She and her sangyab Lödrö Rinpoche are obviously
devoted to each other in a way which gives great inspiration to Western people
who wish to combine a married life with their Vajrayana practice.
